If anyone has questions I'd be glad to help, but of course with the headset working I may be lost in some virtual world for a while. If it's something I missed, I'm assuming others may have as well.
If that is a requirement, I haven't seen it detailed in any documentation or FAQ. I didn't get the error (because it became my primary) but of course performance was horrible.

When the Steam VR app launches, get error 400 stating to launch compositor I have tried the fixes discussed here and problem still persists. VR Server) running after stopping SteamVR (you can view/end running processes from Windows Task Manager) - Certain GPU drivers are known to cause problems. I have an Asus GTX 1080Ti that I have in a breakout box connected to my minipc via TB3.

As an aside I found it by trying the headset on the motherboard. Update Nvidia and HTC drivers to current. There is a link to launch the compositor, but that does not seem to do anything. A friend figured out that I had a built in graphic card and a GTX10 card (see step 1 and 4). Make sure your HMD cable is connected to the main graphic card. Then made sure the card they were on was the primary. After unboxing and connecting all the hardware I started Steam VR, got green icons for all the 5 hardware items, but Steam VR still shows Not Ready, with the error message Compositor is not avaiable. go to SteamVR>Settings>developer scroll down to choose 'Remove all SteamVR USB devices'. I put one of my monitors on DVI, and the headset on that same card. I have two GTX 970's and an HDMI on my motherboard. SteamVR detection problems: SteamVR may not detect the Trinus driver.

Connect and check if it can install drivers. TOGETHER VR is a virtual reality experience that allows players to experience. 01 driver in June 2021 which added async reprojection support on Linux. It goes through the normal startup-and-launch sequence, getting as far as saying 'Ready', which is the point at which it would normally light up the Cosmos display.
